Kew Park

Kew’s brand-new playground is officially open for business, and it’s nothing short of AWESOME!

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council are delighted to announce the official opening of our new Kew Nature Play Space, a community project made possible by the gracious support of the State Government through a $150,000 Open Spaces Places to Play Program courtesy of the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted by Mayor Pita Pinson on Monday, December 18th, at 10:30 am.

The reserve will now offer new pathways, a community playground, the iKew Visitor Centre including accessible amenities and picnic facilities. Not to mention the home of the big thing – The Big Axe.

Balancing equipment, a wobble log with chain connectors, timber bridge, rubber soft fall surfacing and landscaping have all been added to the existing play area, creating a new and vibrant natural play place that blends in with the existing environment.

Port Macquarie Hastings Mayor Peta Pinson said this project was another example of our community benefiting from the partnerships between state and local governments.

Situated behind the Kew Information Centre, this playground is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our community and the generosity of the State Government. It features a diverse range of playground equipment and soft finishes, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for the children of our town.

This new recreational space is not only intended for the pleasure of our youngest residents but also for the convenience and enjoyment of tourists passing through Kew. The proximity to the Driver Reviver, operational during the holiday period, makes it an ideal resting spot.

We extend our gratitude to all those involved in making this project a reality, and we look forward to witnessing the joy it brings to the families of Kew.

A special thanks to President Rod Bucton, Wren Williams and Paul Watson representing the Camden Haven Chamber on attending the official opening.
