Camden Head Pilot Station | Mid North Coast beach front holiday

Absolute beachfront Dunbogan holiday house on the Mid North Coast. The Camden Head Pilot Station is a community managed facility in the Camden Haven on the mid north coast of New South Wales, 4.5 hours drive north of Sydney.

The heritage listed property is located at Dunbogan, 6km east of Laurieton. It occupies a magnificent Crown Land beachfront site overlooking Pilot and Wash House Beaches and the Camden Haven River Inlet, and adjoining Kattang Nature Reserve.

The Camden Head Pilot Station accommodation is a fully self-contained, 1950s style 3 bedroom timber cottage that sleeps up to 6 people (2 queen beds, 2 single beds).  It comprises of the cottage, historic signal shed and former boatshed, set in a bushland recreation reserve. Environmental sustainability is integral to the property; it has a discrete waste system and rainwater tanks and active coastcare and bush regeneration programs. It is relatively secluded, with no immediate neighbours, yet only a short drive from all the services you might need on a holiday. Facilities include TV, radio, dishwasher, washing machine, second bathroom with access from outside.

We invite those who understand and share our purpose to holiday at the Pilot Station. Revenue maintains the Pilot Station for community programs.

The Station, in one form or another, provided navigation assistance from 1890 until its closure in 1990, then fell into disrepair. It is heritage listed as ‘a rare surviving intact group of buildings which provides physical evidence of the living and working conditions of the pilot and boatmen’, and was refurbished in 2001-2002 with assistance from State and Local Government.

The Pilot Station is administered by the community and regularly has exhibitions and events. Click here to find out whats coming up.
